About Us

Who are we?

Manchester South Scout District is the local arm of the United Kingdom’s Scout Association. We have 10 Scout Groups providing a vibrant mix of age appropriate everyday adventure activities. Most of our groups have a full complement of Squirrels, Beaver, Cub & Scout sections along with Explorer sections at district level. We are one of the fastest growing Districts in our Region, with 20% year on year growth for the last 5 years, and are now home to the largest Scout Group in the UK.

Where we are

Manchester South Scout District is in the Scout County of Greater Manchester East. Geographically we cover the southern part of the City of Manchester, from the city centre, as far south as Manchester Airport. Some of our groups meet in their own headquarters, some are church based groups and one based in a community school.

What we do

We are part of the team who help 450,000 young people in the UK enjoy new adventures; to experience the outdoors; interact with others, gain confidence and have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Working alongside our youth members are thousands of adult volunteers, with a huge variety of roles and opportunities available. Our district has approximately 1500+ members including 4-25 year olds and 250+ adult volunteers. We have a fantastic programme of activities to suit all ages.
