Business discussed
Should there be a District Camp
EMT noted that AB had stated if there was not enough support tonight from Leaders then she was willing not to go ahead with a District Camp but to suggest an away day instead. By support, this meant Leaders also had to be willing to take on the responsibility of organising the camp.
AR stated that although in general he was not a big fan of District Camps he would go along with the majority.
KY/CD/PC/MC enthusiastically in favour of a District Camp as it would be the only opportunity for some groups to go on camp.
It was decided that a District Camp would go ahead.
Venue
AR noted there were many considerations when deciding the venue such as;
- Catering style – Group –v- Central
- Activities
- Costs
EMT had bought along the Scoutbase print outs for the local campsites and rung round to check out availability. They all had availability but we would have to let them know by the end of January.
Campsites considered;
- Linnet Clough
- Tatton park
- Dunham Park
- Mddlewood
- Radcliffe
- Wigan (Provisionally AB/EMT ruled this out of distance but open to comments)
Others observations;
AR noted that Tatton flooded
KY noted that Middlewood also had problems with waterlogging
In view of need for flexibility at this stage Linnet Clough agreed as venue.
Date
Provisional date we had written in was 7-9 July 2006. This date is now confirmed.
EMT will confirm with Linnet Clough tomorrow booking Lynmouth or Norlog.
Cost
Camping costs ~£1.50 per head.
Building ~£150
Overall costs per child ~£30.
Numbers
~75 kids and ~25 leaders
Committee
An organising committee will be formed consisting of 1 leader from each group attending.
Next Meeting
Cub section of District Meeting: 09.02.2006 – Now confirmed as Hough End, 8.15pm

Theme ideas
PC suggested that the theme should be 90 years of Cubs. This idea was universally accepted.
Idea – Each group runs an activity base centred around a decade.
EMT/PC to research historical events which happened in each decade and bring to next meeting
