Cubs have successful "Faith is Fun" evening
Manchester South District Cubs hosted by 1st Noor Scout Group held a terrific “Faith is Fun†evening for the Cubs to experience faith in a fun and respectful way. We had 80 Cubs attend with no less than 32 Cub Leaders; even our District and County Commissioners attended – fantastic!

With an atmosphere reminiscent of the Centenary World Scout Jamboree in microcosm, the event gave everyone an opportunity to experience and appreciate our different faiths and of course make friendships. In true Scouting style, the event was not a lesson in religions or dogma but rather an individual journey of discovery, sharing, giving, exploring familiar and unfamiliar styles in a ‘learning by doing’ and fun way.

The Cubs gained their World Faith Badge through activities such as the ‘Nativity Story’ Treasure Hunt, Hanukah Game, Arabic Calligraphy Card Making, Carol singing, Christmas Blockbuster quiz and Cluedo with a twist of faith!

As John Smith noted “there was something for everyone and there’s not many Pack nights where Cubs enjoy having a wash!!!†One Cub was also overheard saying, “that was well good!â€
There were a lot of smiles to be seen all around. The event was a huge success and there are now plans to repeat the event next year.
Of course, it could not have happened without the voluntary contributions and hard work put in by all – including special thanks to our local vicar Paul Robinson for running the Christmas Blockbuster quiz and Neil Silverman and Martin from North Manchester District for running the Jewish Base.
A special thanks to all the leaders who assisted with the activity bases too.
